The Blades sat Lauren Dahm in favor of last season’s back ups Jetta Rackleff and Amanda Cariddi. Rackleff got the start and Cariddi came in for the start of the second. Vanke had 46 shots to the Blades’ 23.

Markham Thunder lost to Toronto Furies on Sept. 30, 6-1

Furies: Sarah Nurse (2), Anissa Gamble, Natalie Spooner, Melissa Channell, Mackenzie MacNeil

The two GTA teams faced off in an exhibition game as part of CYGHA’s 25th anniversary. Megan Bozek, Laura Fortino, and Laura Stacey did not play for the Thunder. Five of the six Furies goals came from rookies, with the lone veteran to score being Spooner.

Champions Cup: Metropolitan Riveters lost to Luleå Hockey/MSSK (SDHL) at Princeton on Sept. 29, 2-4

Riveters: Kelly Nash, Kristin Lewicki

Luleå Hockey/MSSK: Michelle Karvinen (2), Noora Tulus, Emma Nordin

The Champions Cup marked the first goal in Riveter’s sweater for Lewicki. Karvinen was named the Player of the Game. Luleå also showed off their incredible celebration imitating their logo.
